  The problem is with uTorrent erroneously treating PIA as a metered connection.
• Another possible reason is that this particular torrent has a lot of firewalled peers, and that by using your regular connection you allow incoming connections to work while these don't work while the VPN is connected (because you have no forwarded port).

  I seriously doubt DNS and/or uTP would be the cause. Torrents only uses DNS to find the trackers, and uTP would make it slow but not completely prevent downloads.

  @Max-P I tested multiple random torrents to see if results were different.. they weren't...I tried 2 more different PPTP VPNs I found online...same results ( all showed their respective IP's on whatsmytorrentIP in whatever client I tried however )...i downloaded deluge today and tried it...same results...this wasn't happening a couple weeks ago...I am baffled...again: no VPN: bittorrent client works fine.....any openVPN client ( I tried 4 different ones ): bittorrent client works fine....any PPTP/L2TP Ipsec VPN ( I tried 5 different ones ): no connection in bittorrent ( red X )and nothing works or downloads ( my regular internet is fine however )...are PPTP VPNs thru different ports in bittorrent or did Windows firewall something openVPNs don't use ( i'd have no regular internet if that was the case though using a PPTP VPN, would I ?)...I'm so confused
